After 41 years, India now has an astronaut in space. Shukla, who was born in Lucknow, is also the second Indian in space after Rakesh Sharma in 1984. Four astronauts from the US, India, Poland, and Hungary are travelling on this historic trip to the ISS for a 14-day research excursion in Low Earth Orbit (LEO), docked with the space-facing port of the Harmony module.
In addition to being a scientific achievement, the Axiom-4 mission provides evidence of India's growing influence as a major player in the world of technology. Operated by Axiom Space in collaboration with SpaceX and NASA, Axiom Mission 4 (Ax‑4) is a private spacecraft to the International Space Station (ISS). It strengthens the country's capacity to spearhead space innovation, advance sustainability, and make a significant contribution to international missions. Shukla will carry out innovative food and space nutrition experiments.

India's second-longest cable-stayed Sigandur bridge, which spans the Sharavathi backwaters in Sagar taluk of Shivamogga district in Karnataka, was officially opened by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari. The 2.44-kilometre, 16-meter-wide bridge connects Sagara with Marakutika. This bridge, which was built at a cost of more than 470 crore rupees, would shorten the distance between Sagara town and Sigandur, the location of the well-known Chowdeshwari temple.
Many of the villages in Sagar taluk were cut off from the outside world after the Linganamakki dam was built in the 1960s. The minister spoke during the event and gave the bridge the name of the goddess Chowdeshwari Devi. India's first cable-stayed railway bridge, the Anji Khad Bridge, was constructed by Konkan Railway and is situated in the Reasi district of Jammu & Kashmir.
Russia became the first country to recognise the Taliban government of Afghanistan when it announced that it had accepted the credentials of a new ambassador. According to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry, Moscow saw opportunities to strengthen relations and will keep helping Kabul with security, counterterrorism, and drug-crime efforts. Significant trade and economic opportunities also occurred, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, transportation, energy, and agriculture.
In a statement, Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi said his nation respects Russia's brave action and, with luck, it would also set an example for others. As U.S.-led forces launched a disorderly retreat from Afghanistan following 20 years of war, the Taliban administration took power in August 2021, but no other nation has legally accepted it. In an effort to gain recognition, China, the United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, and Pakistan have all appointed ambassadors to Kabul.
In order to allow women and transgender inhabitants of Delhi who are 12 years of age or older to travel free on Delhi Transport Department (DTC) and cluster buses, the Delhi government is about to introduce the Saheli Smart Card, an NCMC (National Common Mobility Card) containing the holder's name and photo.
DTC has issued an expression of interest to begin this project. A senior official stated that the Saheli Smart Card will be issued through the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) system, allowing eligible users to take advantage of free digital travel perks. Instead of replacing the pink ticket system, the card will be presented as an additional service.
Hindustan Shipyard Limited delivered Nistar, the first diving support vessel built and developed in India, to the Indian Navy in Visakhapatnam. The Indian Register of Shipping's (IRS) classification guidelines were followed in the design and construction of the warship. Due to its high level of specialisation, the ship can do rescue operations and deep-sea diving, something that only a few ships worldwide can do.
The Sanskrit name for the ship, ‘Nistar’, implies liberation, rescue, or salvation. Equipped with cutting-edge diving equipment, the 118-meter vessel, which has a tonnage of around 10,000 tonnes, can conduct deep-sea saturation diving down to a depth of 300 meters. To conduct diving operations down to a depth of 75 meters, the ship also features a Side Diving Stage. In the event of a submarine emergency, the ship will also act as the ‘Mother Ship’ for the Deep Submergence Rescue Vessel (DSRV), which will rescue and evacuate personnel.
